此《观世音菩萨慈容五十三现》画册绘者未知。其中描绘了普陀梵音洞大士示相五十三种（多为女相，并融入善财童子），前附护法韦陀一幅，每幅附赞诗。此本大致为清康熙时期山阴戴王瀛滋德堂刊本，绘刻精工，线条流畅。

《慈容五十三现》描绘的观世音形象，掺杂了许多民间宝卷故事的附会传说，以及交错引用正统佛经典故与禅宗语录，并不在意其中的教义矛盾性。总之，此书透过五十三尊观世音像所传达的整体印象，并非严肃的宗教意涵，而是丰富的视觉感受。（介绍[参考](http://www.wuys.com/news/Article_Show.asp?ArticleID=5547)）

在这五十三种容相之中，最后一现是披发着洋装的绅士像，这可能是与当时西洋传教士的活动有关。观音画像中西洋版画显示了中国宗教不排相异、广纳善取的宗教特质。《慈容五十三现》名称就显出了与善财五十三参的密切关系，在各处藏存的此题版画中，有观音化现的姿态，但更多的画面都有童子拜诣的情景，因而这组图像是源自善财五十三参与观音化现的要素而构成。（介绍[参考](http://www.fjnet.com/whys/whysnr/200701/t20070124_42847.htm)）

[观世音](https://baike.baidu.com/item/%E8%A7%82%E4%B8%96%E9%9F%B3/33983)菩萨（梵语：अवलोकितेश्वर，Avalokiteśvara），汉语音译“阿婆卢吉低舍婆罗”、“阿缚卢枳低湿伐逻”，名号意为“观察世间音声觉悟有情”，又译为观音菩萨、观自在菩萨、光世音菩萨，手持莲花的观音菩萨也被称为莲花手菩萨或持莲观音（Padmapani），在大中华地区佛教自唐代开始主要是以莲华部母白衣观音为所有观世音菩萨的本尊；在民间信仰中常被尊称观音佛祖、观音大士、观音娘娘、观音妈、白衣大士。在密教中，她为莲华部尊，在净土宗则是西方净土的大菩萨，与大势至菩萨分别为阿弥陀佛的左、右胁侍菩萨，并称“西方三圣”，同时祂也是四大菩萨之一。
