此《Temple of Heaven》（天坛）是美国摄影师John D. ZUMBRUN（约翰·詹布鲁恩）的北京相关影像影画册的第三部。全册含照片二十七幅，影像记录：天坛入口、祈年殿、皇穹宇、圜丘等建筑景观十九帧及袁世凯1914年冬至祭天场景八帧。此本约出版于1914年。

天坛作为祭天之所，最后的使用者是中华民国首任大总统袁世凯。1914年冬至（12月23日），他在此举行了隆重的祭天仪式，为他策划中的登基称帝做了一次彩排。尽管复辟帝制遭到了可耻失败，但在此之前，袁世凯希望通过天坛的祭天仪式唤起国人的拥戴。当时许多国外记者对这次祭祀进行了拍摄报导，也为后来的世界遗产天坛记录了最后一次典礼。

此书前英文说明提到为1913年12月23日冬至日，查得1913年冬至日为12月22日，1914年冬至日为12月23日。根据历史记录，袁世凯祭天应该是1914年。（更多可[参阅](https://www.douban.com/group/topic/111680249/)）

[北京天坛](https://baike.baidu.com/item/%E5%A4%A9%E5%9D%9B%E5%85%AC%E5%9B%AD/3973437)，位于北京市东城区，是明清两朝帝王祭天、祈谷和祈雨的场所。是现存中国古代规模最大、伦理等级最高的祭祀建筑群。

约翰·詹布鲁恩（John David Zumbrun，1875 —1949），出生于美国，早年参军，参加过美西战争。1910年前后来到中国，在使馆街经营Camera Craft照相公司，直到1929年由于健康原因，他离开北京，带着在北京拍摄的所有底片以及照片，返回美国。

1914年北京东交民巷的照相公司（Camera Craft）出版
