此套《托马斯·查尔德中国摄影集》由英国摄影师Thomas Child拍摄或辑录他人作品（如黎芳）。全套共五册（华北三册、华南两册），约四百九十二幅。拍摄时间大致为1850至1900年，拍摄地主要有：北京、天津、上海、广州、香港、澳门等地。此套现藏巴黎装饰艺术博物馆。

在北京工作期间（1870-1889），查尔德投入大量时间和精力拍摄了北京及周围的建筑和风景，尤其是圆明园和颐和园的残迹，留下了它们被彻底摧毁前的宝贵影像。他采用玻璃湿版照相工艺来摄制这些照片，蛋白纸基印制。

英国摄影师托马斯·查尔德（Thomas Child，1841-1898 ）是清末来华最为重要的西方摄影师之一，他19世纪70年代来到北京，受聘于大清皇家海关总税务司，担任燃气工程师一职。查尔德学习过早期摄影技术，在北京生活近20年的时间里，他投入大量时间和精力拍摄了大量北京及其周边的风景、建筑和人文景观。
